When you want to remove excess fat and skin from your eyelids, blepharoplasty is the way to go. It is a cosmetic surgery to improve the aesthetics of your eyes and make you look several years younger.

If you want to undergo this procedure, you want to learn about the healing process so that you can prepare accordingly.

Healing Process After Blepharoplasty

The healing process is quite short, which means that you should be on your feet. For 48 hours after the procedure, you should use cool compresses and place them around your eyes. The reason is that it increases the speed at which your eyelids recover after the surgery.

However, you should avoid strenuous activities, such as lifting heavy objects, for at least seven days after the procedure. In other words, any activity which increases blood flow to your eyes is a strict no. To prevent hurting the recovery phase, don’t smoke for at least two weeks after the surgery.

Protect Yourself To Increase Rate Of Recovery

During the first few days, you should keep your head elevated as much as possible. This reduces the time your body takes to heal. Within 10 days, you should be able to get back to your regular activities.

You must wear sunglasses when you step outside so that you can protect your eyes from wind and sunlight. Make sure you take adequate amounts of rest, by taking frequent naps. Don’t watch any TV shows or movies during the first week of the healing process so that you don’t strain your eyes.
