January 2017 Newsletter

Published on January 5, 2017

January is renewal time. My patients start filing in this time of year, eager to see what I’ve added to my toolbox of skin rejuvenation procedures.

Here are my three favorite tools for keeping the age monster at bay.

My Omnibus Tool – The Infini Radiofrequency Laser

Traditional micro-needling turbo-charged with radiofrequency waves – genius! It’s the high-octane way to restore skin.

My patients have been seeing exponential results when I apply my Infini Laser to their facial skin. It tightens and unifies like nothing else.

I’ve told you about the Infini often. I don’t want to repeat myself so instead I’m giving you links to these newsletters, written soon after I discovered my miraculous new tool.

Needling without Radiofrequency

Micro-needling without radiofrequency (using a Dermapen) is the gold standard low-impact procedure for maintaining gorgeous skin, year after year.

Make this one procedure an annual habit and you’ll become one of those people everyone talks about: “She doesn’t seem to age like the rest of us.”

Why I love using the Dermapen:

  • I can adjust needle depth during treatment. So I can give different parts of the face different levels of healing. I can break up blemishes like keloids and I can re-texturize and unify coarse areas – all during a single session.
  • Some skin responds spectacularly to certain serums. By lightly pricking the top of the skin with the Dermapen I can get topicals to seep in and do their magic deep inside the dermis.
  • The small size of the handpiece means I can easily maneuver it around facial contours and delicate features.

  • Time needed: 5-15 minutes per treated area, depending on area size.
  • Minimal downtime (from zero to 4 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment).
  • Anesthetic cream is used prior to treatment.
  • Can be used on all skin types.
  • Less expensive than laser or light therapy.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Lighter treatments will show results right away, with more radiant skin.

Deeper procedures (such as keloid removal) will take three to six months.

Phenol Peel

We’re all getting older. After age 60 or so the big guns have to be rolled out of the armory. If you haven’t made a habit of annual skin remodeling treatments, 60 can find your complexion in bad shape and in need of a major overhaul.

When it comes to overhauls there’s nothing like a Phenol Peel. It’s the most aggressive type of skin peel around.

Believe me, it’s not for the faint-hearted! I use carbolic acid to peel away the damaged top layers of skin.

  • Swelling and “crusting” will occur immediately after the treatment.
  • You’ll need ointments to keep skin supple for the first 7 to 10 days.
  • Redness will persist for about a month.
  • New skin will emerge in about two weeks. It will be pinkish, taut, and free of most blemishes and wrinkles.

The tightening effect will often improve jowls, sagging cheeks, deep creases and enlarged pores.

  • Visible anti-aging and curative effect
  • Long-term results (7-10 years)
  • One-step procedure

  • Prolonged recovery
  • Careful medical examination prior to the procedure required
  • Special pre-peel skin preparation required
  • Stresses the cardiovascular and excretory systems
  • Sedation required
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring during the procedure performance required.
